About Me

Why did Matt create this web site?

This web site is the result of a decade of real world experience with web design and programming. It's main goal is to serve as a platform which I can release my hip hop beats on. I wanted to keep everything free so I searched for a way to monetize the site at the same time and Google AdSense filled that role perfectly for me and everything has worked out since. I will also be promoting various products and services that I feel would useful and provide real value to my visitors.

This is by far the most advanced and ambitious project I've developed to date with this brand new design for Free-Instrumentals.com. I was intending to simplify everything about my web site and attract new visitors as well as keep my returning ones coming back. More music will be coming online as well as new interactive features and bonus free material, so keep an eye out this year for it.

So how long have you been at this?

My work with Pc's and the Microsoft Windows platform began when I was 12 years old, and within a few years I developed an interest in programming with HTML where I began to create many game oriented web sites and personal home pages. I have spent countless hours scripting lines of code which had it's start in Notepad with the sole reason being I was fascinated with the visual composition it resulted in, a web page. Since those days I have seen many more internet related programming languages emerge and still seamlessly incorporate those into all my web projects. In fact these trends are growing so rapidly it's almost dizzying.

What inspires you to create music?

By the age of 18 I was highly influenced by my friends which many had a great interest in hip hop and already began writing lyrics and spitting freestyles to various beats. It sparked an idea in my head, that not only could I achieve this too, but I would also be able to accomplish something just as unique and complicated. This era in my life opened doors of possibility and thought I had never dreamed of, and it all started on a machine as basic as a Karaokee machine with 2 cassette decks. This made me into the huge fan of hip hop music that I am today.

I went through a phase where I would record demo tracks over rap beats I found off the internet, just to get my feet wet and see what I could do. I grew tired of that scene very quickly and wanted to start projects where I could stamp my name under the credits start to finish. Before this could happen I needed some guidance and inspiration which came in the form of some chance encounters with other local producers and their home based studios. After seeing how they did it, spending a great deal of time and money collecting equipment, with countless hours of trial and error, I developed my own unique style of Canadian rap music.
